I. Product Introduction:
SMC insulation board is a sheet-form product available in a variety of colors, manufactured via a compression molding process using unsaturated polyester glass fiber-reinforced sheet molding compound (SMC). “SMC” stands for “Sheet Molding Compound.” Its primary raw materials include glass fiber roving (GF), unsaturated resin (UP), low-shrinkage additives, fillers (MD), and various auxiliary agents.
What is SMC?
SMC is a composite material composed of glass fiber, resin, fillers, and other ingredients. Its structure resembles a layer cake; it is molded under high temperature and high pressure to form a sturdy sheet, typically 2 to 4 millimeters thick.

II. Product Characteristics
SMC insulation boards feature high mechanical strength, excellent flame retardancy, and superior tracking resistance (second only to UPM203). Additionally, they offer high arc resistance, dielectric strength, and voltage withstand capabilities, alongside low water absorption, excellent dimensional stability, and minimal warping.
These products are primarily used as insulation barriers within high-, medium-, and low-voltage switchgear. Leveraging the outstanding properties of SMC composite materials, they effectively overcome the inherent flaws of traditional wooden, steel, and plastic meter boxes—specifically issues such as susceptibility to aging and corrosion, poor insulation, low cold resistance, inadequate flame retardancy, and short service life. SMC meter boxes deliver exceptional performance, offering excellent sealing, waterproofing, corrosion resistance, and anti-theft capabilities; furthermore, they require no grounding wire. They feature an attractive appearance and are equipped with secure locking mechanisms and provisions for lead seals, ensuring a long service life. SMC distribution boxes and meter boxes are widely used in the modernization and upgrading of urban and rural power grids.
