Difference between G10 and FR4
-
Material Composition and Properties:
FR4 is a composite material made of epoxy resin reinforced with glass fiber. It features excellent electrical insulation and mechanical strength, making it suitable for printed circuit boards (PCBs). G10 is also a glass fiber and resin laminated material, but it is processed with special techniques to achieve higher mechanical strength and better chemical stability. It can maintain stable performance under extreme conditions such as high humidity or strong acids and alkalis. -
Applications:
FR4 is mainly used in products requiring electronic insulation, such as FPC reinforcement boards, PCB drill pads, transformer insulation boards, and insulation structural components in motors and electrical equipment.
G10 is more suitable for outdoor electronic equipment, providing reliable insulation protection in harsh environments, such as for tools and tool handles. -
Color and Appearance:
FR4 is available in various colors, such as yellow, white, black, and blue. G10 usually comes in black, red, blue, and green, with some types featuring dual-layer color effects. -
Performance:
G10 has excellent insulation, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance. It is not easily penetrated by moisture or liquids and is relatively lightweight.
FR4 offers higher mechanical and dielectric properties, good heat and moisture resistance, and excellent machinability.
